Fujifilm has used the 10th anniversary of its X Series release to announce the date of its X Summit 2022 event, where Fujifilm says it will release its 5th generation X-mount camera in May. Could a new Instax Wide be on the horizon this year? It certainly makes sense. However, the launch of the Instax Link Wide (opens in new tab) printer in 2021 along with new black-bordered film shows that Fujifilm is taking a renewed interest in the line. All eyes on the May Fuji X Summit for teasers. That would give a flagship new X-H2 to hog the limelight in 2022 and then maybe an X-Pro 4 / X-T 5. The Instax Wide 300 was launched back in 2015 and, aside from a Toffee-colored paintjob (above) released in 2020, there hasn't been a new Wide camera in well over half a decade. Don't know of any rumours, but the gap between the 1 to 2 to 3 has been approximately 3 1/2 years each time, so if history is repeated timescale wise you might be looking from Q2 2023. While Fujifilm has constantly updated its Instax Mini line, its (literally) bigger brother has barely received any attention at all.
